1-1/2 pounds dry navy beans (3 cups)
9 cups water
1 medium onion chopped
1 cup ketchup
1 cup brown sugar
1 additional cup water
2 teaspoons dry mustard or 2 T. prepared mustard
2 Tablespoons dark molasses
1 Tablespoon salt (start wih 1/2 T, then salt to taste later)
1/4 pound salt pork or bacon, cut in chunks or diced
Sort and soak beans overnight in 9 cups water. Simmer 30 minutes then remove from heat and let stand 1 hour. Be sure beans are softening before you drain and place them in the crockpot. Add all remaining ingredients and mix well. Cover and cook on low 10-12 hours or on high 4-6 hours. Stir occasionally.
